It's the best book I've read all year. I think a good starting point for modesty is - is the outfit appropriate for the occasion? (such as pool vs. school) The swim struggle is real - why is it that we kind of make fun of nearly naked men in speedos, yet the female equivalent (very skimpy bikini) is considered normal swim attire? And yes, wedges rule! A good compromise. I've kept my wedding shoes for sentimental reasons, but I've finally admitted that I'll never wear them again. I'm 5'1", so even WITH heels I'm short, so... embracing the small!
Re. no. 1: Good luck with the cantoring... there's a reason I never come out from behind the organ ;-)Catherinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16448300763872886022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5094547634228789193.post-37204315055730875782016-05-27T08:19:05.734-07:002016-05-27T08:19:05.734-07:00I LOVED Dawn Eden's book!!! Thanks too for the recommendation of EE's book, I read her first one and this may be the push I need to read her newest one. Her writing is awesome!Pattyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05900413545108321127noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5094547634228789193.post-20830568216683050612016-05-27T08:14:11.231-07:002016-05-27T08:14:11.231-07:00I used to teach middle school and would flat-out c...I used to teach middle school and would flat-out call out my girls who were dressing inappropriately - they just did NOT understand the difference between pool attire and school attire, and it was a serious problem! I feel like modesty can be a spectrum - confining yourself to a rigid set of rules (and holding others to that standard) puts a bad spin on the whole "modesty movement" particularly when a woman can be perfectly covered up but still immodest! Also, the swimsuit struggle is real... I wear shorts over mine because I hate showing my legs, but I would prefer a longer swim skirt if possible, just because I would feel a little more clothed!

I think it's time to give away most of my heels, as well. I've found wedges to be surprisingly comfortable, so those are generally my go-to shoes when I want to be a little dressed up, but I also mostly just wear flats and don't care about the fact that I'm still so short/don't look quite as nice!Rosiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12888635342531960478noreply@blogger.com
